About

I have always been a meaning-maker, that's what I believe an artist is. Art is a language an artist speaks that doesn't translate clearly in our day to day communication. Art is understood and felt in the experience of creating and witnessing it. It's an attempt at the translation of a feeling.

When I say I am an artist I mean, I draw, paint, design, sew, build, grow, anything I can. I am filled with ideas constantly and in waves, those ideas come to life in various forms.

I fell in love young and had my daughter at 18 and my son at 20. Their father and I separated shortly after my son was born. I would be lying if I said I had it hard, it was very challenging yes, but I loved my children and motherhood so much, and I was always surrounded by love and support from my family. It was that love and support that made it possible for me to receive my BFA in Fashion Design in 2012. I always dreamed of starting my own creative business, but it took many years for me to have the clarity and vision to bring it to life.

I am always looking for patterns and connections from seemingly trivial moments to painful boat-rocking seasons. I have come to believe that everything happens for a reason and I would define myself as a true romantic at heart. A romantic realist. My experiences have turned me into the adult who still gazes at the stars and weaves meaning into everything I touch.

I started making jewelry by accident. When I moved back into my childhood home after my divorce, I rediscovered my beads from a previous creative whim and started to make myself jewelry to keep my hands busy. Before I knew it, I was making myself a Throat Chakra necklace to help me remember my voice in my legal battles, gifting a full chakra necklace to my mom who loves yoga, and a Sacral Chakra necklace to a dear friend who was struggling with fertility. I planted a seed silently in the intention of the last one. When I got the phone call a month later that she was pregnant, I had an overwhelming feeling in my body that I was on the right path.

I want to make it very clear, that I do not claim that there is magic in my jewelry. I do, however, strongly believe there is magic is in all of us, in this beautiful gift of a life. We just forget sometimes, and these pieces are designed to be a reminder.

I cannot express to you how happy I am that you are here supporting my vision and reading all of this!

I hope that my pieces can bring you even the smallest ounce of the joy to fill your cup, because that's what art does for me.

Love always - Yesenia
